The most, and to be honest, the only interesting part of the Scaligero Castle were its square towers (Torri Scaligiere) from 14th century , renovated in recent years. The passing of time, the wars and the negligence of the men damaged most of the castle.

More, I got to know, that there was 16 km (10 mi) long wall which started at the Scaligero Castle and went through the Castle of Villafranca to Nogarole built in 1345 - 1348 by order of Mastino II Della Scala. But it didn't survive.

The main square tower (in front of you when you come from Valeggio) was built in the 12th century, whilst other parts of the castle were built step by step since 1285.
