  Hohensalzburg chapel altar
by hundwalder

Hohensalzburg castle contains an interesting Gothic chapel. The pointed arches intersecting at right angles were a Gothic trademark. Shown in the photo is a most beautiful Renaissance altar. The heavily veined polished marble gives it much of its beauty. The central equestrian painting and the statues of the saints are of excellent quality. I will let you know when I learn the names of the artists.

The chapel is just one of the many treasures you can visit for your 3 euro ( less for children, students, and senior citizens ) castle admission price. You can visit the torture chamber and other gruesome and cruel castle features with a 5,5 euro comprehensive ticket ( old hund is not interested in such things ).

Address: Lower court of Hohensalzburg
Directions: Hohensalzburg is hard even for a blind man to miss.
