The National Gallery, London: 133 reviews and 184 photos

Most capital cities have a National Gallery and London is no exception. The Gallery boasts that it "......houses one of the finest collections of Western European paintings in the world."

The Gallery is broken down into four seperate periods ranging from 1250 through to 1900 - each of the periods are in turn split by country, genre or by artist.

In addition to the permanent collection, special exhibitions are held in various parts of the facility - admission is generaly free, unless there is a special exhibition running.

In addition to the Gallery, there is also a licensed restaurant and informal cafe (both have waiter service).
