"Hermitage's best kept secret" Hermitage Tip by Assenczo

Hermitage, Saint Petersburg: 279 reviews and 544 photos

Most of the tourists visiting St. Petersburg are exposed to Peter the Great's life story and his dwellings - the Summer Palace and his first home (looking at each other across the Neva). What is not advertised though is his Winter Palace. It is well hidden in the bowels of the Hermitage Theater. Access is restricted and probably a well-versed tour agent can smuggle you there. Once inside you will be overwhelmed again of what a great job the St. Petersburg builders and their heirs have done.
