  The Clerigos Tower
by van_aeken

This baroque church was build between 1732 and 1749, and the tower between 1748 and 1763. Both under the direction of the italian architect Niccola Nazzoni, known in Portugal as Nicolau Nassoni. He wanted to be buried in this church, and so was he.
The tower is reputed to be the highest in Portugal, 76 m high. Nassoni was inspired by the gothic towers of his native land, Tuscany.
Access to the church is free, the tower ticket is 1?.
