Impressive ruins of 5th century basilica built over the tomb of St. John. Similar design to Hagia Eirene in Constantinople. The baptistry is still evident--with steps leading into what was a sunken pool. From the terrace there are good views of the site of the Temple of Diana, a mosque and the Byzantine fortress on the hill above--a good example of what Turkey has to offer--layers upon layers of history.

Address: St Jean Caddesi, Selcuk
Directions: Top of Ayasuluk Hill, 400m from Selcuk main square
