"Bangkok Clean Zone" Bangkok Warnings Or Dangers Tip by areagrey

Bangkok Warnings and Dangers: 457 reviews and 248 photos

At Siam Square, please be aware that there is such a thing as Bangkok Clean Zone. Me and my friends were fined 500B each for "throwing things on the street" by two policement who dragged us from a telephone booth right across Hard Rock Cafe to their booth at the end of the street. They asked us for our passports & we were forced to sign some kind of receipt, and we noticed that they ONLY target foreigners. Before us there was a Mary who was fined 2000B, and we were 'lucky' , as he only fined us 500B. The police also like to pick smokers as easy target since it is very hard to tell where you threw yourr butts. Also, please be aware that these polices are capable of being extremely rude and please refrain from laughing since they were trying very hard to extort money from you. Visit to the tourist police seems to confirm my suspicion that Bangkok is choked full with conmen and criminals.
