Along the beach (Caribbean), there was too much undertow for much swimming (although I waded). One of the other couples went and sat in the surf to cool off, but I wasn't comfortable doing that.

The sand was 'black', not golden or white, and it soaked up the heat from the sun, so it was hotter to walk on than you might expect.
