Coming out of the Central Railwaystation of Rotterdam, you´ll see a very tall building at your lefthand side. This building is the tallest building of Holland and is used by an insurance company called Nationale Nederlanden.
The official height of this office is 151.35 metres. The construction was started in 1988 and it was completed in 1991. It has 41 stores and it offers a working space to 6.000 people each day.
The Delftse Poort (Gate of Delft) building has been a centre of activity during the years. In 2000, during the European Championships Football that were organised in Holland then, the building was covered with a huge picture of Edgar Davids, the captain of the Dutch National team.
And until last year every year a famous stairsrun was organised in this building. Numerous people ran the 41 floors and up to 500 steps as fast as they could, reaching the top in less then 8 minutes. Due to safety reasons this race has been cancelled last two years.
