"Central Park" Central Park Tip by goingsolo

Central Park, New York City: 406 reviews and 745 photos

This huge park walkways, jogging paths and acres of green grass is almost a back to nature experience In this city whose landscape is consumed by towering skyscrapers and gridlocked vehicles. The park is famous for its role in movies as over 100 of them have featured some portion of its landscape as a backdrop. And, although touristy, a carriage ride through the park is an activity that tops many NYC must see lists.

A walk in Central Park is one of the best New York City experiences, especially since the public park is free. Its a great place for exercise, for a picnic on a sunny day or for a walk around to admire the landscape. If you're interested in such things, there are statues found throughout the park, including Alice in Wonderland and Hans Christen Anderson (found near the Model Boat house) and the series of statues in the Mall area all donated by various ethnic groups in celebration of their cultural heritage.
There are a couple of fountains found in the cpnservatory gardens and near the middle of the park as well.

Central Park is one of my favorite ways to spend a sunny day in the city, not only for the scenery and greenery but for the people watching as well. As with most of the city, you see all walks of life here, some more colorful than others. The entertainers- jugglers, singers and musicians with their seemingly impromptu performances in the park, are fun to watch as well.
