"Mosaic of Christ as Pantocrator at Aya Sofya" Hagia Sophia - Ayia Sofia - Ayasofya Tip by toshigiappone

  Christ as Pantocrator
by toshigiappone

When you pass the main entrance and across the outer nartex, you will find this mosaic above. Christ as Pantocrator (Ruler of all) is one the most favorite motives in Byzantine Arts. As you see, Christ holds a book with an inscription. The prostrating man wears the cloths of emperor.

You should not miss it!
