Scotland Off The Beaten Path: 260 reviews and 423 photos
All those who thought that the most westerly point on mainland Britain was in Cornwall, then think again!. It is actually
Ardnamurchan Point at the end of the Ardnamurchan Peninsular.
Right at the end in what must be one of the most windswept and desolate parts of the UK stands the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse.
The light is some 35m tall and was constructed in 1849.
The lighthouse is now unmanned and is a museum and there is also a cafe, with fine fews out to the neighbouring islands.
End of Ardnamurchan Peninsular. near Kilchoan
Reached by many miles of single track roads from Acharacle
