"Halaszbastya (Fisherman Bastion)" Fisherman's Bastion - Halaszbastya Tip by toshigiappone

  Fisherman Bastion
by toshigiappone

This Neo-Gothic bastion must be a star attraction in Budapest, because of its magnificient view. We can see the Danube, Parliament, Szent Istvan Bazilika, and Margaret Island from here.

Well, the reason why it is "Fisherman" bastion is that there was a market for fishermen. Anyway, the bastion itself is not so old, and it has only one hundred years history.

Behind the bastion, you would notice the Hilton Hotel, and Sushi Buffet there( I visited Budapest March, 2005). Hungary is an inland country, I don't know whether it serves fresh fish.... And, I think prices are pricy.

Address: Castle District (Varhegy) in Buda
Directions: It can be reached by the Castle bus (Varbusz) from Moszkva ter. Near from Matthias Church
Phone: +36 1 458 3030
