  Zig Zag Railway
by Zanzibargirl

Located in Lithgow in the Blue Mountains of NSW the Zig Zag Railway is a great way to travel through the mountains.

Built between 1866 and 1869 it was constructed to enable produce to be transported between this area and Sydney.

There are several stop points and you can choose to get off at some of these and take walks or stop in some fantastic picnic grounds. I would highly recommend it as a trip for kids as they love it.

What better way to see some of the mountains than smell the smoke of the steam train, gaze at the blue haze of the trees and wave at people as the train goes by. A great day out and a trip back in time.

Address: Runs from Clarence Station to Bottom Pt Station
Directions: Near Lithgow on the Western side of the Blue Mountains. Clarence Station is 150 km west of Sydney, 10 km East of Lithgow on Bells Line of Rd. Travel time from central Sydney is approximately 2.5 -3 hrs.
