"Taxi from Lima Airport into town" Peru Transportation Tip by MyHollyDay

Peru Transportation: 157 reviews and 111 photos

The price differences in taxi fare is outrageous in Lima among other things. If you find out how much the ride should have been verses what you had just paid can stir up a rage powerful enough to light up the whole airport.
The 30 minutes taxi ride from Lima airport into town(Miraflores) should cost no more than 20 soles or less than 5 usd. It would be even cheaper, 15 soles if you just walk 100 feet towards the exit (just ask one of the many securities standing around which direction is "salida")
Hotel and hostels we stayed at also tried to rip us off big time by offering to arrange airport pickup and drop-off that is 3 times the normal rate. They would always tell you that it will be hard to find a taxi at these hours (when ever your flight is). The truth is taxi are lined up waiting for you at the airport at all hours. If your flight leaves at odd hours like 4am, just find a taxi on the street previous day/night, ask the taxi driver to come pick you up tomorrow at 4am at the hotel. We had done exactly this and paid 15soles while the hotel arranged ride asked for 45 soles!
