  Looking down from the funicular
by bugalugs

The funicular raulway was built in 1891 for visitors to the jubilee exhibition observation towers at the top of Petrin Hill. This isnt the original funicular but the 3rd one to stand here. This one opened in 1985.
The funicular goes through what is called the 'hunger wall', built between 1360-1362 by King Charles IV. Well not actually by him himself, Kings dont build walls, but was built by locals to ease the unemployment and also the wall was a fortification.
If you are getting a tram to the funicular you will need the
Nos 6, 9, 12, 20, 22, 23.
Keep a look out though, better than we did. We caught the metro on the other side of the river and then jumped on the No. 22 bus, keeping our eye out on the right hand side the next thing you know we are crossing back over the river to where we had started out journey!!!!
In fact I dont think it was probably that far to walk from the Malostranska stop.
The funicular runs from:
9am-23.30pm - April-October
9.15am-22.20pm November-March
They run about every 15 minutes.
The cost is 12kc for which you must have a ticket and it be validated.
There is also a machine at the top of the funicular to purchase a ticket.
