The Rhein-Ahr-Express connecting Bonn with the Ahr
by RhineRoll

The Rhein-Ahr-Express is a regular train connection between Bonn Hauptbahnhof and the Ahrtal, which is famous for its wonderful red wines. Popular stops along this route are Remagen, Ahrweiler, Dernau and Altenahr. There are literally hundreds of vineries and restaurants to sample the wine, so it makes very good sense to use the train and leave the car at home :-)) Hourly departures from Bonn. The journey time depends a bit on where you are getting off in the Ahr valley but is somewhere between 30 minutes and 1 hour. One more example that Germany has a very dense and excellent railway network. For railway freaks: The trains employed belong to the Bombardier Talent series which are quite often seen in German regional rail networks.
