This is the Astor Library building, the first public library of New York City. It is located at 245 Lafayette avenue down in the village. If you take the subway get off at Astor Place station and it is a short 1/2 blck walk.

They turned it into the Public Theater and they have alot of off broadway plays there. We saw Ben Stiller, Jeffrey Wright and Amanda Peet in a play there on 04-10-05

Address: 245 lafayette street, in the village
Directions: West side of Lower Manhattan
