half the cars in bangkok seem to be taxis

I found that Tuk Tuk's were the most fun way of getting around Bangkok. They are smaller and agile so can weave through the horendous traffic jams, but ( and its a big but i think), if you're stuck behind a bus or any other thai vehicle for that matter, you will have to put a cloth over you mouth because the air pollution is awful, especially as soon as the vehcle in front revs away leaving you in a cloud of black smoke!

I tried both metered and non- metered taxi's, but not very often. I got in one taxi and the guy said to me ' no you go with metre taxi, much cheaper for you' and it was, almost half price. Another plus side to taxi's is that they are air conditioned and you will avoid any afternoon downpours that WILL happen.
