The small town of Shanklin is split in to two areas, the modern/Georgian and the Olde Worlde thatched cottage area.

The old area is very tourist orienteted with shops & cafes, there is an interesting Heritage Centre & Shanklin Chine, which is a large pretty gorge with walks through & around the area.

South East of the Island
