The old South Freo power station lies in ruins at the north end of Coogee Beach. It was built in 1951 and was a coal-fired electric power generating installation. At the time it was the second and larges purpose-built thermal power station in the State. It was closed in 1985 after 34 years of operation. All the old plant and equipment has been stripped out with only the shell of the building remaining in a prime location right on the beach.

Location : North Coogee Beach
