Favorite thing: Again, very much known as a beach holiday destination, but a whole different world up in the (relative) cool of the mountains. Fertile terraces of grapes, apples and other plants, winding roads, traditional whitewashed villages.

Of course, there is another side to Cyprus. The current Greek/Turkish partition, with the world's last divided capital city, and the guerilla wars against the United Kingdom, where just fifty years ago, these mountains were the redout of EOKA forces against the colonialists.
