  modern campanile in Trieste
by hundwalder

Not all of the interesting chiesas ( churches ) and campaniles ( bell towers ) in Italia are hundreds of years old. That is evidenced by this fascinating 20 th. century architectural masterpiece located in Trieste centro. I don't know the name of the modern church or any details about its construction. I saw no mention of it in the tourist info. literature. I will let you know as soon as I find out. The campanile reaches incredible heights and is visible from great distances.

The architecture appears to be a harmonious blend of modernissima and neo-gothic. The roof is in the shape of a parabolic cone. There is no art work of note on the church exterior but the interior art work is worth a look.

Address: Trieste centro near train station
Directions: As you stand in front of the train station facing the park across the street, look to your left along the corso ( boulevard ), and you will see the campanile about 250 meters away.
