  Governers Museum (Independence Hall)
by Blatherwick

This was constructed in 1912 to act as the official residence and office of the Dutch Governor of Melaka. During the period of British rule the building continued to serve as the residence and office of the British governor of Melaka. The building gained greated significance as it was where the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, read the historical document proclaiming independence for the country in 1956. The building is now a museum.
