For 2 weeks in August, Puerto del Carmen puts on her party clothes.

Shake the sand off your feet, take a siesta in the afternoon! Then early evening go out and listen to live bands on stage from 9.30pm. Eat food straight from the barbeque, sip iced beers from the stalls and dance in the Plaza til the early hours. Dont expect to finish early.

Its not all rock and roll; but we like it. You might hear Canairian choirs with the haunting sound of the timple (a ukelele crossed with a mandolin) but the closer it gets to midnight the livelier everything gets.

When you get fed up of dancing and drinking, why not wander into the fun fair and see how long you can stay on the bull at the rodeo.

Address: Puerto del Carmen old harbour
Directions: The main plaza near the old harbour
