Gua Tempurung which is about an hour's drive from Ipoh is a great place to visit.
There are a number of options: a 45 minute self-guided tour of the cave, a 2 hour guided tour or a 4 hour guided tour. You need to buy a ticket at the park entrance.

I took my daughter and her cousin for the simple self-guided tour, as we had limited time and practically no equipment ...except our own two feet. Apart from the physical activity, the girls also enjoyed it as an educational experience.

Equipment: Those who want to go for the full 4 hour tour shall have to bring a torch-light, good pair of non-slip sports shoes and a bottle of water.

Also, do arrive earlier if you want to spend a longer time here because the tours take off at specific times, eg. 9 am and 2pm-although I am not sure if the times have changed.

I found that some parts of the cave were very dark and not well lit. A moderate level of fitness is required as there are steps going up and down throughout the cave.
