"The Flag Tower" Top 5 Page for this destination Hue Things to Do Tip by iwys

Hue Things to Do: 358 reviews and 862 photos

In front of the Citadel, on the north bank of the Perfume River, stands a massive flag tower, above which flutters the biggest Vietnamese flag I saw during my travels. It stands in front of the main, Ngo Mon royal gate to the Citadel.

This is where the National Liberation Front's flag flew for 24 days during the Tet offensive of 1968.

The red is symbolic of the blood shed during the wars, and the yellow star represents a brighter future.
