Tabla: "Upscale Indian Restaurant" Tabla Bread Bar - CLOSED Tip by rosie_b

  The Bread Bar at Tabla

Marvelous Indian-fusion food. The ambiance is great, which is kind of ethnic but modern as well. There are two different sections in the restaurant, the first level is the Bread Bar and the second floor is the main dining room. The Bread Bar has a tapas style menu, with a many kinds of naan (Indian bread) and chutney, and other small portions food, such as black pepper shrimps and Wagyu beef samosas (they can't call it Kobe beef, because it's not from Kobe, but similar process). The main dining room, usually you have to have a reservation to go there, offers more upscale menu and only pre-fix style. There are three different pre-fix, the three-course meal about US$59, seasonal 5-course meal about US$75 and the chef tasting about US$90. They have some interesting cocktails too such as Tablatini (martini with lemongrass infusion) and Pommegranate Gimlet (which is my favorite). The service is always nice and friendly, the food is always good and interesting.

Favorite Dish: My favorite dish at the Bread Bar would be the Cheese Naan, black pepper shrimps, chicken tikka, and Wagyu samosas. At the main dining room, I like the crab cakes so much (there's a $10 supplement or something like that for the dish), the rice crusted black bass, and the scallops dish too. Don't forget to order the Tabla most famous chai, it's to die for. It's not like those super sweet chai at regular coffee shops, it's very good, subtle, and you can still taste the spices and aroma of the chai. For dessert, kulfi is the best choice. It's basically a more condensed and creamier version of ice cream.
