  Wat Si Saket
by Blatherwick

Wat Si Saket was built in 1818 by Chao Anou. It is probably the oldest functioning temple in Vientiane. The special thing about this temple is the 6480 Buddha statues. The most notable one are along the interior of a thick wall with thousands of small niches that each hold a small Buddha. Hundreds of larger Buddha statues, all dating back several hundred years, also adorn the walls. Along the wall to the left of the sim is a large pile of small broken Buddhas. Inside the sim are some beautiful, but fading, murals and of course the largest of the Buddha images.

Address: Thanon Lan Xang & Thanon Setthathilat
