  The Parish Hall, New Abbey
by nickandchris

New Abbey is on the A710 about 6 miles south of Dumfries, sitting in the shadow of Criffel (569m). It is a pretty village with interesting buildings, Sweetheart Abbey, craft shops and tea-rooms and a corn mill plus two hotels, The Abbey Arms and opposite, The Criffel Inn.
If you are travelling south on the A710 you can't miss it as you have to drive right through it and will no doubt have to wait for passing traffic as the road is busy and narrow.
There is a free car park with toilets and re-cycling facilities, right by the Abbey.
On the outskirts of the village there is a Museum of Costume at Shambelie House.
