Many people make fun of New Jersey, especially the people from New York. I have to disagree with them. I only visited New Jersey one time for a week and stayed with a friend, but I found the state to be quite lovely.
Most people do not know that New Jersey is a peninsula, bounded on the west by the Delaware River and on the east by the Hudson River & the Atlantic Ocean.
Those people who laugh at New Jersey no doubt have not seen the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge with its great boardwalks, abundant wildlife, and numerous wild flowers.
They've not seen the Kittatinny Mountains (part of the Appalachian chain. This area gives sweeping vistas in all directions.
And, have they been to the Pine Barrens, a million acres of pine & oak forests, cranberry bogs, sand roads, white cedar swamps, and the cleanest water "on earth" due to the Cohansey aquifer? Here's where the Pine Barrens tree frogs live.
How about the migration of birds each spring to Cape May Point? Cape May has ocean, bay shores, freshwater creeks, forest, and saltwater meadows. No wonder the birds love it.
New Jersey also has 127-miles of shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean, and who could forget the boardwalks of Atlantic City.
Also at Island Beach State Park, the diamondback terrapins come ashore to lay their eggs in the sands above the water line.
So, for those doubters who have heard that New Jersey is "not worthy", I say, "go jump in a lake!"
I prefer to visit Branch Brook Park in Neward, Morristown National Historical Park in Morristown, Princeton University, Great Falls of Paterson, Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge, and Wharton State Forest in the grand state called New Jersey
