San Zaccaria Church, Venice: 6 reviews and 14 photos
The church of San Zaccaria, unfortunately under the scafold by the time of my visit, was completed in 1515 by Codussi. The local guy, in front of the church, told me the church must be visiting in the late afternoon, when the sun comes in through the windows, lighting up Madonna enthroned and Saints by Bellini.
Inside of the church there is a late Renaissance chapel of Sant' Atanasio with a painting by Tintoretto.
When there is high water, the level in the lagoon rises by much as a metre and floods the tombs of the first eight doges of Venice, buried here in San Zaccaria.
Address: Campo San Zaccaria
