Blue Smoke/ Jazz Standard: "BBQ at Its Best in the City" Blue Smoke Tip by rosie_b

Blue Smoke, New York City: 4 reviews and 1 photos

The first thing that you notice when you come in is how cozy and warm it feels. The restaurant has a very casual feel to it, with a down-to-earth ambiance and hospitable service. The menu is not complicated and being served unpretenciously. All the servers and hosts always treat you well and it seems that they will give you whatever you need and make it happen. The beer list is good, mostly are local US beers, with a lot of them coming from the Brooklyn Brewery.
the basement level, which is accessible from the main entrance, is the Jazz Standard. They have jazz performances everyday and the cover charge is about $20. They have a similar but more limited menu than Blue Smoke.

Favorite Dish: My favorite dish has to be the marbled brisket plater, with mashed potato on the side. Also, they have a great fried bread that comes with chipotle butter. But their most appetizing main courses would be the ribs and hamburger. They have four different kinds of ribs: babyback, st. louis style, kansas city style and the texas style beef ribs. Their burgers are picked as the number one burger in the city by the New York magazine. With its side dishes such as macaroni and chesee, collard greens and creamed spinach, you can't help yourself from ordering them. Appetizers such as smoked mussels with jalapeno-tomatoes sauce and peel-and-eat shrimps give you a warm start before the main courses arrive.
For dinner time, they usually have some kind of special of the day. And during lunch time, they have yummy sandwiches such as Oyster Po'Boy, pressed Cubano sandwich and Grilled Chicken sandwich which are served with their famous spicy chips. The salads are good too, especially the Iceberg with Roquefort Dressing, sprinkled with bacon bits.
