"Honfleur" France Things to Do Tip by Pieter11

Honfleur is a wonderful little town at the Canal-coast. Although it´s situated at the coast, nobody comes here to visit the beach (there is none) but to visit the pretty town-centre:

- The Old Harbour of Honfleur is situated wonderfully. Lots of old houses, beautiful blue water, old wooden boats and some easy-going-atmosphere make this harbour to a very pleasant place to visit.

- Very special is the wooden Sainte Catharina church. It was built in the 15th and 16th century out of wood, while other churches were all built of stone already. Probably this was because of a lack of money. This church is really special and pretty, also inside. And it still is the biggest wooden church of Western Europe.

- And off course Honfleur is an Artistic town. Lots of French painters come here to get inspiration. People like Boudin, Courbet and the young Claude Monet worked here. Still you can see lots of artists here in the streets, which to me is very understandable, because it´s simply a gorgeous town!
