"Long distance busses" Mexico Transportation Tip by Vikingvicki

Mexico Transportation: 192 reviews and 117 photos

The bus system in Mexico is brilliant.

There are 1st and second class busses
( normally leaving from 2 different stations). You can either just turn up at the station and buy your ticket, about 30mins before departure, or if you want to be sure of a seat then you can book either over the internet ( although if you book a seat you have to collect the ticekt 2hrs before departure) or book your ticket at a travel agency or at a Ticketbus office ( yellow & black signs).
You can also get on second class busses at other places than the bus stations, you just pay on board.

You get to choose your own seat on the 1st class busses, there is plenty of leg room ( I'm 1.80m and I could fit my legs in with no problems, even on 2nd class busses). They are also incredibly punctual !

Second class busses normally stop at various places enroute, this is not so bad for short trips as vendors will come up to the bus with lovely snacks or fresh fruit which you can buy.

The busses are airconditioned - don't forget a blanket or jeacket it normally gets very cold.
