the former entry to the brewery
by filipdebont

In 1820 Alexander Rodenbach took over a small brewery, which was bought by Pedro Rodenbach in 1836.

The malt kiln, which dates from 1872, is made after an English model; nowadays this malt kiln is used as exposition hall.

In the cellars there are 294 oak-wooden barrels (foeders in Flemish ? there is not really a correct translation for this word, it comes from the French word foudre). (Thank you, Nancy V. from the Rodenbach Brewery Visitors Centre for this information)

At the picture you can see the former entry gate to the Rodenbach Brewery, and in the rear you can see a small part of the St George (St Joris) picture.
