Jurmala - literally means "seaside" - is a health resort at the southern bank of the Bay of Riga. The famous spa-town, only 25 km away from Riga. Jurmala offers some of the best relaxation resorts in Latvia. 32 km long white sand beach surrounded by dunes and pine woods.
In 1998 the European Council included the historical centre of Jurmala, and part of the wooden architecture in art nouveau (Jugendstil) into the UNESCO project of the list of cultural and natural landmarks.
