South of the Place Georges Pompidou, standing with your back to the Centre Pompidou with its modern architecture, you can see the Church of St Merri with its traditional architecture . One of the many places in the city of Paris, where you can encounter the typical historical and modern mix of architecture.

In front of the church I saw very modern and colourful sculptures. The church itself can be considered as one of the most beautiful ones of Paris. It is named after Merry or Médéricus, Abbé of Saint Martin d?Autun. The present gothic church, built between 1500 and 1550, with the same ground-plan as the Notre Dame is also called the 'Notre Dame la petite' . In the interior you can find some nice sculptures and paintings.
