The most famous landmark and symbol of Paris, which everybody knows is the Eiffel Tower. You can see this tower from far in many parts of the city.

The tower, designed by Gustav Eiffel, is 320M high and was built for the world exhibition in 1889. More than fourty years the tower was even the highest building in the world.

I never climbed the Eiffel Tower, but it is allready very impressive to walk around in the area of the tower and have a look at it from different sides. I especially liked the view from the Trocadero at the bank of the Seine. But also from the park at the southeastern side of the tower, the green Champ de Mars - originally a parade ground near the Ecole Militaire - the view is great.

The last time I was in Paris I saw the Eiffel Tower for the first time with many sparkling lights in the evening at 10pm. A lot of people came to watch this from the side of the Trocadero.
