"San Jose Zoo" San Jose Tip by gramboman

San Jose, Costa Rica: 7 reviews and 3 photos

San Jose Zoo, or "Zoologico Nacional Simon Bolivar", is on a very small plot of land, but they manage to cram a wide variety of wildlife, including an ocelot, lions, toucans, some monkeys, racoons, squirrels... and that's about it.

restrooms should be noted as BYOTP = Bring your own toilet paper

Unique Suggestions: Having trouble spotting the elusive sloth during your time in Costa Rica? The zookeepers will help you finally find him/her in a snap. Lucky visitors can hold the sloth after feeding time.

Fun Alternatives: Get out of the city as fast as you can and see animals comfortable in their natural habitats in the many national parks (i.e. Parque Nacional in Cahuita on the east coast).
