"Pantheon" Panthéon Tip by morgr

Panthéon, Paris: 108 reviews and 253 photos

by morgr

The Pantheon was originally built for the purpose of being a church. Before completion however there was a bit of a revolution in France, and when it was finished the new powers had different plans for it. They turned it into a crypt to burry the remains of great Frenchmen (and as of 1995, a Frenchwoman as well).

Here are the remains of, amongst many other, Voltaire, Dumas, Rousseau and of course, Victor Hugo.
