  Zeche Zollern Dortmund
by IceBear7

It looks like a palace, it used to be a coal mine, and today it is a museum explaining the way people worked and lived in the whole Ruhr area at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Rusty and dirty, but beautiful art-nouveau doors, adorned brick buildings and great exhibitions about the life of a miner.

Great place for kids, they get a little "miner's training", lots of hands-on exhibits, also great for grown-ups. Experiencing the different kinds of lamps miners had is absolutely scary!
