Favorite thing: Some things to know if you're going to be there for a while like I was...

Sainsburys is the best and biggest for food shopping in town.

If you're looking for a gym, then Fitness First across from Sainsbury's is your best bet. There is also a small gym across the street from Fitnes First, but FF is nicer. It has a lot of aerobic machines...lots of ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, stiar climbers, and they also have row machines. All face a long row of TV's. There's an upstairs gym room that has more weight machines, but there are also some downstairs in the free weight area. The free weights are sufficient, but the surrounding area is small. They also offer some kind of free movie rental right inside the building, and they also provide free juice and tea in the lounge behind the reception counter. The men's locker room was pretty nice. The showers appeared clean as were the bathrooms. I don't remember how much it cost, but I think it was rather expensive. I got a discount since they offered one for people working on the power plant project, but I think it was maybe 30pounds a month for regular membership.

There's what I would call the local community complex out on the Buncrana Road, but for non-residents to sign up to use the pool was tricky. The gym membership was definitely not worth the price for what they had.

Wringers Laundry is right across the street from Fitness First. The entire six months I was there, they did not lose a single item of clothing. I was very happy with the service. They do it all, and the pricing is according to weight. ALSO, they return your wash in big blue blags that make really good covers for your medium-sized backpack when you check in at the airport!!! They really hold up!

Fondest memory: Thursday evening pub quizzes and pints of the black stuff and good craic.
