This is an original enlisted men's quarters constructed in 1853, and rebuilt after the Civil War. It consists of three dormitory rooms and an "orderly" room. For brief periods (1856 and 1868) it was a Commissary Storehouse. The few hours that a trooper had were generally spent here, writing letters, mending clothing and equipment or relaxing. Each trooper had to keep his personal belongings to a bare minimum, ready to pack and move.

The "orderly" room served as office and quarters for the company's First Sergent, who assigned the men to duties. Usually a literate soldier of high character, he also kept company records and funds.

The south dormitory, to the right and the orderly room are in the process of being furnished as quarters for Buffalo Soliders.
