While die-hard old Chicagoans will still refer to the new Millenium Park by its former name, "Grant Park," the scene in the winter is unbeatable.

Right along the main street near the park, the city sets up a temporary ice rink, full with skate rental, zamboni, and a permanent restaurant on one side.

There is no charge to skate, and the zamboni refreshes the ice every two hours. Skate rental is expensive @ ~ $7.00 but that's just chicago. Skating is free, so bring your own skates if you have a chance.

Listening to classic American and popular music over the speakers sets the mood as people from all over the city and all walks of life convene to enjoy their time and glide on the ice.

This experience is second only to Rockefeller Center during Christmas I imagine.
