Favorite thing: Midan Tahrir (Tahrir Square) nis the most central spot in downtown Cairo. All the most expensive hotels and also the budget hotels / hostel are around the area. This is linked by the metro stop 'Sadat'.
If you come to Cairo from outside by bus, you may get off here. The Egyptian museum is in this area as well as some banks with their ATMs. The place youmay need to go to extend your visa also here. If you plan to go to Pyramid or airport by bus, this is the place you have to come.
