La Paloma Lodge: "Simple luxury in Drake's Bay" Costa Rica Hotel Tip by SassTraveler

Costa Rica Hotels: 495 reviews and 694 photos

One of my all time favorites. La Paloma Lodge service is outstanding, from wait staff to nature guides to dive master. Every room has a view of the ocean and gets cooling night time breezes. All rooms and bungalows have open showers. Stay in a bungalow if you need any kind of privacy, but the rooms are fine if all you need to do is crash at night (you can hear your neighbours a bit). The food is delicious! Lodge coordinates day trips to dive and snorkel spots, Corcovado national park and other hikes.

Unique Qualities: Breakfast and dinner (included in price) each day at beautiful, open air clubhouse built entirely of hardwoods. Lodge accomodates about 20 people. Hammock in each room. Pool, lush garden surroundings, and great views of the ocean. Remote -- you feel like you're almost to the end of the earth.

Address: Drake's Bay, Osa Penninsula
Price Comparison: more expensive than average
Directions: Only way to get here is via small plane, Nature Air or Sansa, from San Jose. This makes for the charm of Drake's Bay, with a total population of 200.
Theme: Pension/Guesthouse
