"Fort Caswell" Top 5 Page for this destination North Carolina Things to Do Tip by Astrobuck

North Carolina Things to Do: 196 reviews and 326 photos

This was a Confederate fort during the American Civil War. Believe it or not, as you can see, it is still actually standing, and is very solid! The property is now owned by the Southern Baptist Convention. If you drive up to the gate, the guard will tell you not to get out of your car. Just tell him you want to drive around and look. Then, park your car, get out, and explore! (As you can see, I did!). Do not worry, the structure is VERY solid, so you don't have to worry about it caving in on you, but, like always, be careful walking around so you dont trip or step on anything.

Address: Caswell Beach, North Carolina
Directions: Follow US 17 South to Supply. Take a left at the stoplight toward Southport. You will see signs directing you toward Long Beach and Caswell Beach.
