If you meet someone on a hiking path, no matter whether you are in a deserted area or on a busy path, say hello. And if you meet someone who says hello reply for god's sake!!
I met so many tourists who didn't reply when I said hello but stared at me as if I were an alien and I thought that was very annoying!
