Anak Bandung, Surakarta & Ibu Tjilik: "Where to go for Indonesian food" Leiden Restaurant Tip by crazylizzy

Leiden Restaurants: 111 reviews and 124 photos

You can't leave the Netherlands without tasting Indonesian food. Thanks to Dutch colonial history, Indonesian food is as much a part of 'Dutch cuisine" as are pannekoeken (pancakes). I think Anak Bandung (Garenmarkt 24a) is the best place in Leiden to go for the rice table or nasi rames. Only their interior is incredibly tacky.
Surakarta (Noordeinde 51 - 53
) I like most for its other dishes. Their cumi cumi (squid) and ikan bali (mackerel) is delicious. 'The food is not very spicy, because they cook like in central Java.
But the best Indonesian food in Leiden is from a take-away called Ibu Tjilik (Lammermarkt 9). It's a tiny place. There is a table, but I never saw people sit down to eat .

Price: US$11-20
